Is therapy right for me?

I find talking things through always helps. You don’t have to be in crisis to benefit. It’s a space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings with someone who is trained to listen and support.

What if I’ve never done therapy before?

That’s completely fine. I’ll explain things clearly and you can ask questions at any time. There is no right way to do therapy, only your way.

Do I have to talk about everything straight away?

Not at all. This is your space, and you set the pace. There’s no pressure to talk about anything before you are ready.

Is online therapy as good as in person?

It can be just as effective, in fact, this is now proven by research. Many people find it more convenient and comfortable, especially if you prefer to be in your own space. However, you will need a private space where you will not be overheard or interrupted.

Are you LGBTQIA+ affirmative?

Yes. I am part of the community myself. My approach is rooted in affirmative practice, which means your identity, your experiences and the way you move through the world will always be respected and valued here.

Do you work with clients who do not identify as LGBTQIA+?
Absolutely! While my practice is rooted in LGBTQIA+ affirmative therapy, at the same time, I also work with a wide range of people on challenges such as anxiety, depression, life transitions, and relationships. I welcome anyone who feels I might be the right fit for them. You're very welcome here, just as you are.

Have you worked with trans clients?
Yes, I have experience working with trans clients. While I am cisgender myself and do not have the lived experience of being trans, I work in a person-centred way that focuses on providing an understanding, non-judgmental space for you to explore your own journey. I completely understand if you would prefer to work with a trans therapist, which is a very valid and important consideration when choosing someone to support you. My goal is always to create a safe environment where you feel respected and heard.

Are you neurodivergent or do you have experience working with neurodivergent clients?
I am neurotypical, but I have worked with neurodivergent clients across the spectrum and deeply understand what it can feel like to live in a world where you are often misunderstood. My approach is to provide a fully non-judgmental space where you can feel valued and welcomed as your authentic, unmasked self. That said, I appreciate if you would prefer to work with a therapist who has lived neurodivergent experience, and there are many excellent professionals out there. Some of the most important people in my life identify as neurodivergent, and I wholeheartedly welcome and accept everyone as they are.

Are the sessions confidential?
Yes. What you share with me is private and confidential. I won’t share what you tell me with anyone outside our sessions. The only exceptions are if I believe there is a serious risk to you or someone else, or if I am legally required to do so. Wherever possible, I’ll speak with you first so you know what’s happening and why.

Do you follow an ethical framework?

Yes. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work within their Ethical Framework. This means I’m committed to practicing safely, professionally and with care.

Do I need to commit to weekly sessions?

Weekly sessions are recommended, but we can talk about what works best for you. Some clients prefer a different rhythm, and that’s OK. I aim to be flexible and work at your pace.

What personal data do you collect and why?
I collect only the information I need to provide you with a safe and ethical counselling service, such as, your name, contact details, emergency contact, GP information, and brief session notes. This helps me offer you appropriate support and meet professional responsibilities. You can find out more by reading my privacy policy
